Came here to post this link to Tonya Howe’s post “Retheorizing the Open Textbook Platform.” I need to reread and think more about it.
I’ve been teaching Intro to Lit with the Pressbooks offering Composition and Literature by James Sexton and Derek Soles, funded by BCcampus Open Education in Canada. It’s good, with the usual caveat for OER literature compilations that contemporary pieces aren’t usually licensed for inclusion. I’ve been supplementing the auxiliary materials as I go.
I just found out I’m teaching Intro to Lit again next semester so it’s worth investing in building my resources for the course, and I’m attracted to the “textbook as database” concept that Howe discusses.

On an unrelated note, I have neglected this blog because I’ve been feeling ambivalent about blogging and about higher education. I doubt anyone wants to read my musings. But perhaps this blog can be a good place for me to think out loud to myself, like a public-facing work journal.
